SAADA, Oct. 12 (YPA) – Deputy Prime Minister for Services and Development Dr. Hussein Maqboli, Minister of Water and Environment Abdulraqib al-Shurmani, and Governor of Saada province Muhammad Awadh on Wednesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 39 water and environmental sanitation projects in Saada at estimated cost of three billion riyals.
The inauguration and laying of the foundation stone for rural water projects in Saada governorate comes within the framework of the celebration of the Yemeni revolutions; September 21, September 26 and October 14 and the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday.
Maqboli, Al-Shurmani and Awadh inaugurated 20 water and environmental sanitation projects, implemented by the Rural Water Projects Authority and its branch in Saada, at a cost of 1,587,600,000 riyals, funded by donors and community initiatives.
The projects include the rehabilitation of reservoirs, water projects and surface wells, most of which are equipped with a solar energy system, in the districts of Qataber, Kitaf, Hidan, Safra, Saqeen, Majz, Munabeh and Sahar, benefiting 128,650 people.
They also laid the foundation stone for 19 water and environmental sanitation projects in the districts of Saada, Qataber, Ghamr, Al-Safra, Razih, Sahar, Hidan, Kitaf, Saqeen, Majz, Munabeh, Al-Hashwah at a cost of 1,412,880,000 riyals, serving 85,555 people, funded by donors and community initiatives.
Maqboli explained that these projects are serving a large segment of society in the province, praising the role of the ministry of water and the local authority in the province in implementing solar-powered water project.
He considered the inauguration of work on water projects, translating the orientations of the Leader of the Revolution and the Supreme Political Council and their interest in service projects that run on solar energy as an alternative to diesel.
