Importers of oil derivatives demand facilitating access of fuel shipments to Hodeida port

SANAA, Sept. 08 (YPA) – The Union of Traders and Importers of Oil Derivatives on Wednesday demanded the removal of all obstacles and restrictions on the import of oil derivatives, affirming the sufficiency of the UN inspection mechanism.

In a statement, the union called for facilitating the procedures for the arrival of shipments of oil derivatives to the ports of Hodeida to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The statement called on the United Nations to carry out its duty and not have a bias for one party against another, noting that the union found, through the recent emails of the UN Verification and Inspection Committee, that the oil derivatives ships are obligated to abide by the Saudi-led coalition directives.

The union confirmed the incorrectness of what was included in the statement of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition regarding the reasons for the detention of fuel ships off the port of Jizan, which it claimed did not impose any old or recent restrictions on shipments of oil derivatives destined for the ports of Hodeida and other fallacies that are not true.

The statement pointed out that the pro-coalition government in Aden has been imposing restrictions after restrictions and obstacles in an escalating manner for four years, the last of which was the circular issued on June 27, 2022, that is, during the validity of the truce.

The union stated that there is no justification for that cumbersome mechanism with the existence of a UN inspection mechanism during which all shipments documents required by international inspection standards are submitted, and implemented in Djibouti by a specialized team affiliated with the United Nations.
