Jabal: Arab and international airline companies request to operate flights through Sanaa airport

SANAA, Sept. 03 (YPA) – Raed Jabal, the Deputy Chairman of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority (CAMA), has revealed that the authority has received many requests from Arab and foreign airlines to resume their flights to and from Sanaa International Airport since the beginning of the truce, stressing the continuation of the siege obstructed the arrival of those companies as a result.

 “Any new extension of the truce must be one of its priorities to open Sanaa International Airport to all companies wishing to land at the airport,” Jabal told Yemen News Agency (Saba) on Friday.

He affirmed that that Sanaa International Airport is ready to receive new flights in accordance with international requirements and conditions and the Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Jabal explained that Sanaa airport currently needs at least ten flights per day, to meet part of citizens’ needs.

 He pointed out that 6000 passengers were leaving and arriving at the airport on a daily basis, through more than 30 flights that were departing from Sanaa airport, noting that 14 Arab and foreign airlines were landing at Sanaa airport before the war on Yemen.

Jabal called on the United Nations to implement all the provisions of the humanitarian truce and open Sanaa airport unconditionally, as it is a legal requirement contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people in general, and Patients in particular.
