KABUL, Sept. 02 (YPA) – Dozens of people have been killed and many others injured in a massive explosion on Friday that targeted one of the largest mosques in the western Afghan city of Herat.
Afghanistan’s Tolo News Agency said the blast went off in the Guzargah Mosque in the western city of Herat during Friday’s noon prayers.
The explosion left casualties, one of whom was the imam of the mosque, Mujibur Rahman Al-Ansari.
Images on social media showed what appeared to be blood-stained bodies scattered around the compound of the mosque.
The was no immediate claim of responsibility for Friday’s blast.
