Over 4,772 displaced families in Dhalea face threat of starvation

DHAELA, Aug. 28 (YPA) – Over 4,772 displaced families in camps in the city of Qataba, northwest of Dhalea province, southern Yemen, are facing the threat of starvation.

“There are more than 2,433 displaced families facing the threat of starvation, as they do not have food, 2,038 other families need to pay the rent of their homes, and 3,801 others do not have safe drinking water,” according to a report issued by the Executive Unit for the Internally Displaced Persons in the “coalition-backed government” in the city for the month of August 2022.

The report confirmed that the grow of the number of families displaced to the district of Qataba would led to raising the suffering of the displaced and their essential needs, as a result of the ongoing war on the outskirts of the province and several Yemeni cities.

The report indicated that the displaced are facing great suffering in terms of shelter, education, health, food, protection, water and environmental sanitation.

On the humanitarian interventions by international organizations, the representative of the Executive Unit for the Displaced, Ahmed Al-Dhahyani, stressed that the organizations’ humanitarian interventions cover some of the needs of the displaced, but the volume of need exceeds the humanitarian intervention by humanitarian partners.
