SHABWA, Aug. 28 (YPA) – The UAE-backed “Al-Amaliqa Brigades” militants on Saturday accused the Security Special Forces affiliated with Islah of orchestrating to target their leaders in Shabwa province, southern Yemen.
This came on the heels of Shabwa Governor Awad al-Wazir’s survival from an assassination attempt with an improvised explosive device, which targeted his convoy near the city of Ataq.
The pro-UAE brigades said in a statement that they had found a quantity of mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a security Special Forces camp in Jardan district.
The camp, which fell under the control of the Al-Amaliaq a few days ago, was a den for carrying out assassinations targeting officials and military leaders in Shabwa, the statement said, noting that Islah factions may seek to arrange new bombings in the province.
