HADRAMOUT, Aug. 26 (YPA) – A security force affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Thursday stormed a women’s seminar in the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.
Local sources confirmed that armed elements affiliated with the STC raided a women’s event at the Ramada Hotel in the center of the city, due to raising up the flag of the Republic of Yemen.
The sources explained that the officers took down the Yemeni flag and tore it apart in front of the attendees, in a scene that met with widespread anger.
The incident comes a few days after the STC authorities circulated a ban on holding any events raising up the flag of the Republic of Yemen in the oil plateau.
