Islah’s Ataq axis commander vows to change course of confrontations

SHABWA, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Despite the heavy losses suffered by Islah militants in Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, at the hands of UAE-backed militias, a military commander affiliated with the party still refuses to admit defeat.

Aziz Al-Atiki , the commander of the “Ataq axis” that was overthrown by the UAE,  called on the people of Shabwa to come out with their weapons and support what he called “army forces” and confront the “gangs coming” from outside Shabwa.

He tweeted on Thursday: “God willing, we will all celebrate the victory shown in the heart of Ataq.”

Al-Atiki renewed his call on the tribes to withdraw their sons from the ranks of the pro-UAE militia, before it is too late.

He accused the factions affiliated with the UAE of “directing their weapons to the state and tampering with the property of citizens.
