Shura Council condemns Israeli aggression on Syria

SANAA, Aug. 15 (YPA) – The Shura Council on Monday condemned, in strong terms, the brutal Israeli attack with a number of missiles on points in the governorates of Damascus and Tartus in Syria on Sunday evening.

In a statement issued today, the Council considered this blatant attack a serious threat to regional and international peace and security, and an undermining of peace in the region.

The statement stressed Syria’s right to defend its security, stability, sovereignty, and independence of its territory by all means guaranteed by law and international covenants.

In its statement, the Council called on similar councils in Africa, the Arab world and the free people of the world to condemn and denounce this dangerous criminal act that threatens peace and security in the region.

The Council demanded that the League of Arab States break its shameful silence and work in accordance with what it was established for and represent the interests of the nation.
