Tribal gunmen prevent entry of oil tankers in Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug. 04 (YPA) – Armed tribes continued on Thursday to prevent oil and gas tankers from entering the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province, which is under the control of the UAE, for the third day in a row.

Tribal sources in the province stated that armed tribal groups detained, for the third day in a row, oil and gas tankers at Al-Saeed junction, southeast of Ataq, and prevented them from entering the city, demanding the payment of two billion Yemeni riyals, dues to the transporter of diesel for Shabwa electricity plant.

The sources indicated that the diesel transporter at the Shabwa power station had not received its arrears from the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition and local authorities since 2019.

The tribal blocking will continue until the dues of the diesel transporter for Shabwa electricity are paid, without mentioning his name or the tribe to which he belongs, according to the sources.
