UAE sends modern gunboats to Socotra

SOCOTRA, July. 26 (YPA) – The Emirati forces sent on Tuesday a new military shipment, including gunboats, to the Socotra archipelago of Yemen.

Sources familiar with the matter said that the Emirati ship carrying military vehicles and boats, and various military equipment, and monitoring devices, had arrived during the past hours at the port of Socotra, following the arrival of a similar cargo ship to the strategic island.

The sources indicated that the UAE forces would work distributing military equipment to the Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions deployed in the Socotra archipelago.

The UAE has imposed its control over the island of Socotra under the banner of humanity since 2016, and expelled the Islah Party-appointed governor, Ramzi Mahrous, in June 2020.
