China warns US over Taiwan

WORLD, Jul. 25 (YPA) – China on Monday renewed its warning to the United States about a planned visit to Taiwan by Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi.

According to Reuters, “If the US side insists on this visit, China will take firm and strong measures to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Monday.

The warning came after a sharp response by Beijing to reports in the Financial Times concerning the possible trip.

Several parliamentary delegations from the US and the EU have visited Taiwan recently, provoking China’s ire.
