SANA’A – The mini-championship for handball, organized by the General Federation of the game to mark the third International Handball Week 2022, will start tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, at Al-Ahly Club hall in Sana’a, coinciding with the occasion of the founding of the International Handball Federation on July 12, 1946.
The tournament will be held during 20-23 of this month, with the participation of the clubs of Al-Ahly Sana’a, Al-Wahda Sana’a, Tihama Youth, and May 22.
According to the Secretary-General of the Federation, Hamza Saleh, the tournament is held to celebrate the third international week of the game that most countries of the world commemorate to spread the base of the game, in light of the continuation of Arab, Asian and international tournaments.
Saleh explained that the establishment of this activity comes to confirm the presence of Yemeni handball at the international level, and to activate relations with the International Handball Federation in support of the game, especially since sport halls have been affected by the war on Yemen, and the teams have not been able to participate externally for years.
He called on handball players in various Yemeni governorates to continue playing the game, while the federation will do its utmost to organize a major tournament that includes the most prominent Yemeni clubs during the current season.
