Saudi ambassador seeks to oust defense minister, chief of staff in pro-coalition govt

SANAA, Jul. 12 (YPA) – A former official in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition revealed on Tuesday that the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Muhammad Al Jaber, is seeking to oust the defense minister and chief of staff and replace them with others close to him.

Yemeni journalist and former media advisor to the “Hadi’s government” embassy in Riyadh, “Anis Mansour,” said in a series of tweets:” The directives of the Saudi ambassador, Al Jaber, to appoint Mohsen Al-Daari as Defense Minister and Hashim Al-Ahmar as Chief of the General Staff.”

Mansour confirmed, “Member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Othman Mujally, assured his close associates that Saghir bin Aziz (the current chief of the general staff) is no longer a member of the General People Congress Party, but has become ‘Akhonji’ (referring to Islah Party) and he must be overthrown, which turned into a contentment to Ambassador Al Jaber.”
