Ministry of Agriculture continues to prevent import of foreign apples

SANAA, July. 08 (YPA) – Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation confirmed on Friday that it would continue to prevent the import of foreign apples in order to protect the local product.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, issued a decision to prevent any permits to import any foreign shipment of apples.

He pointed out that the move came in accordance with the ministry’s mechanism and plan to protect the local product, and in a way that contributes to supporting farmers and enabling them to sell their apple production in the local markets.

Dr. Al-Rubai affirmed that the private sector was directed to contribute to the marketing of the local product and its purchase from the market, which would contribute to the stability of the prices of local apples.
