Somali refugee killed by UAE-funded militias in Shabwa

SHABWA, June.29 (YPA) – A Somali refugee was shot dead on Wednesday by UAE-funded armed factions in Ataq city of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.

local sources in the city stated that one of the Somali refugees was killed in clashes that erupted between the so-called “Shabwa Defense forces, at dawn today, Wednesday, in the center of Ataq, without giving further details.

The sources indicated that the Somali refugee was targeted while passing through the confrontation area.

Shabwa is witnessing security chaos after the militia backed by the UAE, which it brought from Dhalea, Yafa area of Abayn and the western coast, to take control of the province’s districts, and overthrow the former governor, Mohammad Saleh bin Adyo, loyal to the Saudi-backed Islah Party, at the end of December 2021.
