SHABWA, June. 18 (YPA) – Fierce clashes erupted on Saturday among armed factions backed by the Saudi-led coalition in Shabwa province, east of Yemen.
According to tribal sources, the clashes happened between the Shabwa Elite Forces, affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC), and the so-called “Shabwa Defense Forces,” led by the governor Awad Ibn al-Wazir.
The sources reported that the confrontations between the two sides took place in Wadi Mudrak area of Khora district.
The confrontations came in the line of the STC’s rejection of the governor’s directives to release local leaders who were arrested at the end of last week on charges of filming the pro-Emirati council camps.
