UAE-backed STC militia storm local meeting in Socotra

SOCOTRA, May 24 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia on Tuesday stormed a meeting of the local council on the island of Socotra province, southern Yemen.

Local sources confirmed that the UAE-funded militia stormed the local council members’ meeting on the island, while they were in a direct meeting with the Governor Ramzi Mahrous, affiliated with Islah Party, via the Internet by the zoom application.

The STC militia prevented members of the local council on the island from continuing to meet with Mahrous, who was expelled from Hadibo city, the capital of Socotra Island, in June 2020, according to the sources.

The UAE has imposed its control over Hadibo with the help and complicity of the Saudi forces, which removed their military posts from the entrances to the city.
