Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi calls for support of Awqaf Authority

SANAA, May 16 (YPA) – Yemen’s Revolution Leader, Sayyed Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, called on the official authorities to support the Supreme Authority for Awqaf in order to enable it to perform its responsibilities.

In a speech that he made on Monday during the first conference of Awqaf, Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi said: “Since the revolution of September 21, there is a consistent trend between the popular and official side to reform everything that contradicts the faith identity of our society.”

For dozens of years, the official side had been dealt with the Awqaf completely negatively and turned into spoils for some officials to benefit from, Sayyed al-Houthi said.

He pointed out that previous governments lost the endowments and did not reach their purposes for which they were endowed.

The revolutionary leader noted that the Awqaf Authority began its work in light of a tragic and unfortunate reality due to the accumulation of problems, negatives and loss in many endowments.

Sayyed Abdul-Malik indicated that despite the great difficulties, the Authority was able to achieve good results, including mosques, the poor, and some public services.

He stressed on firm dealing with the negligent and those who misuse the endowment funds if the reminder did not work for them.
