Beijing conducts military drills near Taiwan

WORLD, May 09 (YPA) – The Chinese armed forces carried out military exercises in the eastern and southwestern waters of the Coast of Taiwan Island.

According to the Combating Command for the Eastern Region of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Monday, on its WeChat social network page, the exercises were conducted with the participation of the navy and air force.

During the exercises, missiles with conventional warheads were used.

“The purpose of the exercises is to test and increase combat readiness for different types of forces during joint weapon operations,” the command said.
