Yemenia Airways still awaiting permits from Coalition to start flying on Sanaa International Airport
SANAA, April 15 (YPA) – Yemenia Airways revealed on Thursday the reasons for the delay in opening Sanaa International Airport to commercial flights.
Yemenia Airways spokesman Salam Jabari said in a press statement that the company is awaiting permits from the Saudi-led coalition to launch commercial flights.
He added that so far no permits have been obtained.
“The delay in operation was not a technical issue, but a political one caused by the coalition. The United Nations should press the coalition to grant permits for flights,” he said.
Jabari predicted that commercial flights to Sana’a airport would not be operational in the near future unless the United Nations exerted pressure on the coalition as it is the sponsor of the truce.
He stressed the readiness of Yemenia to operate two flights a day to Sana’a from Amman and Cairo, during the period of the two-month UN truce.
