Omani Foreign Ministry reveals objectives of UN envoy’s visit to Sanaa

MUSCAT, April 11 (YPA) – The Omani Foreign Ministry on Monday revealed the objectives of the visit of the UN envoy, Hans Grundberg, to the Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

Grundberg’s visit to Sanaa came based on the meetings and discussions held by the international mediator with Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, and a number of officials in the Sultanate, the Omani ministry said.

The ministry noted the role of the meetings with the head of the Sanaa delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, in facilitating the UN visit aimed at consolidating the armistice and the requirements of a comprehensive settlement in Yemen.

Earlier in the day, the UN envoy arrived in Sanaa coming from Muscat, on his first visit to the Yemeni capital since his appointment last September.

Grundberg is scheduled to meet with President of the Supreme Political Council in Sanaa, Mahdi Al-Mashat, and senior officials in the Salvation Government to discuss the truce’s consolidation.
