SOCOTRA, March27 (YPA) – Local tribes of the UAE-held island of Socotra refused to create military sites that the Saudi-led coalition militias tried to establish near their areas.
Activist Atef Al-Socotri wrote on his Facebook, that the sheikhs of the western Socotra tribes refused to create military sites, despite the financial temptations of the UAE.
2016, the UAE had imposed its military control over the island of Socotra, located in the Indian Ocean, through its intelligence in the “Khalifa Foundation” under the banner of humanitarian work.
In August 2020, the UAE established a joint military base with the Israeli entity navy on the island, following the normalization of its relationship with the entity.
It was able to control over the city of Hadibo, the capital of the island, and expelled the authorities of the Saudi-backed exiled Hadi government in cooperation with the Saudi forces 808. On June 20, 2020, the UAE imposed the Emirati dirham, in a failed attempt to change the identity of the sons of the island and destroying all its environmental and natural components.
