Detainee survives assassination attempt inside Islah prison in Taiz

TAIZ, March 25 (YPA) – A prisoner survived to an assassination attempt while he was sleeping inside a correctional facility in Taiz province.

According to human rights sources, prisoner Salah Abdul Jabbar al-Assadi was subjected on Thursday to an assassination attempt by three prisoners while he was sleeping in the “Central Prison” which is under control of Islah militants.

The sources explained that one of the three prisoners grabbed al-Assadi from his feet and the other strangled him while the third prisoner tried to stab him with a dagger.

The sources confirmed that al-Assadi was stabbed between his nose and eyes while resisting the perpetrators, amid the secrecy of the prison administration over the incident.

The administration did not open investigation into the crime.

The incident revealed the availability of killing tools inside the central prison, and prisoners and detainees were killed inside the prison, without any protection.
