Yemen, UNHCR discuss aspects regarding humanitarian work

SANAA, March 21 (YPA) – The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Ibrahim Al-Hamali, stressed the importance of coordination between the Council and the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

This came during his discussion on Monday with the new resident representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Maya Ameratunga.

The officials discussed aspects of cooperation and coordination regarding the affairs of the displaced and the management of displacement sites.

The meeting touched on the mechanisms of work between the Council and UNHCR to guarantee continuity of work and achieve the desired results to alleviate the suffering of the displaced and the affected people.

For her part, Ameratunga praised the efforts of the Council in facilitating the course of humanitarian work, stressing the UNHCR’s commitment to coordinating with the Council for achieving common humanitarian goals.
