The situation in Ukraine and Russia’s actions point to the need to reform the UN Security Council and thus create a new world order, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said,
“The rampage of Russia, which is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, indicates the need to organize a new world order,” Kishida added .
He stressed that “Japan has previously believed that the use of the veto should be under maximum self-control.”
“Together with countries positively disposed towards reform, we will continue efforts to reform the Security Council and reform the UN,” the Prime Minister said.
Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine early in the morning on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called it the goal of “protecting people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.”
