SANAA, March 10 (YP) – US officials are still in contact with Ukraine and NATO over the transfer of Polish fighter jets to Ukraine, the White House said.
White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters on Wednesday that logistical challenges remain about the possibility of using Polish MiG aircraft to help Ukraine, Reuters reported.
This comes after the Pentagon objected to an agreement on Polish aircrafts.
Earlier, the Pentagon announced that it had rejected Poland’s proposal to provide MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine through Washington.
“We will continue consultations with Poland and our NATO allies on this issue and the logistical complexities it poses, but we do not consider Poland’s proposal reasonable,” the Pentagon said in the statement.
Poland expressed its readiness to place its MiG-29 aircraft “immediately and freely” at the disposal of the United States and to transport them to Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
“The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consultations between the President and the Government, are ready to transfer all their MiG-29 aircraft to Ramstein base and put them at the disposal of the United States Government,” the Polish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
