Violent fighting erupts between pro-UAE forces in Hodeida
HODEIDA, March 02 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupt on Wednesday in Al-Khokha city in Hodeida province, western Yemen, between the UAE-backed forces led by Tariq Afash and the so-called “Tihama Brigades” militants, which left several dead and wounded.
According to local sources, the clashes broke out after the Tihama Brigades militants refused orders issued by Tariq Afash, nephew of former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
The Tihami militants set up several military points at the entrance of Al-Khokha city, in anticipation of any reinforcements for the “Afash” forces coming from Mocha city of Taiz province.
Al-Khokha has been witnessing military tensions between the Afash forces and the Tahami Brigades’ militants over the past two years, amid the latter’s demands for Afash forces to leave Tihama areas.
