Turkey has no intention of joining sanctions against Russia, Foreign Minister says

SANAA, March 02 (YPA) – Turkey has no intention of joining international sanctions against Russia over its war with Ukraine, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

“As a principle, we didn’t participate in such sanctions in a general sense. We have no intention of joining in these sanctions, either,” he said in remarks on late Tuesday.

In a related context, Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that his country had asked Moscow to withdraw their request to allow ships not registered in the Russian Black Sea fleet to cross the Turkish Straits and the Russian Government had accepted it.

Earlier, The Turkish presidential spokesman said that his country has no plans to join sanctions against Russia in order to maintain close trade relations with it in fields including tourism, gas and agriculture.
