UAE establishes military watchtowers in Socotra

SOCOTRA, March. 01 (YPA) – The UAE intelligence has established watchtowers along the important coastal cities and highlands on the Yemeni island of Socotra.

Informed sources on the island confirmed that the UAE installed watchtowers in the city of Hadibo, the capital of Socotra, and some populated areas and heights overlooking the coast of the island, and equipped them with advanced digital cameras that extend for more than four kilometers.

This move was rejected by the people of Socotra, considering that a blatant interference in their private lives, the sources added.

The sources stated that there are three towers in the middle of Hadibo Street with the aim of monitoring the daily movement of the people, and expanding by establishing a number of towers on the islands, in the same way that the Zionist occupation followed with the people of Palestine.

The sources suggested that these UAE prior measures aim to secure the Israeli naval officers present on the island, whose freedom of movement is likely to be allowed in the coming weeks.
