MOSCOW, Feb. 26 (YPA) – The Russian Embassy in Paris said on Saturday it will send a protest note to the French Foreign Ministry and take measures to protect the sailors of the detained ship in the English Channel.
According to the embassy, at 07:00 on February 26, the Russian cargo ship “Baltic leader” was held in the territorial waters of France in the Boulogne-sur-Mer region, with a crew of 19 people on board.
During that, the Coast Guard stated that the reason was the implementation of a customs inspection.
It later emerged that the target of the French authorities were documents of the ship that turned out to be owned by PSB Leasing, which, according to the local coast police, is on the US financial sanctions list.
The ship currently remains in custody, and later the court will decide its fate, and the authorities have allowed the crew to move freely around the city.
