Moscow: US Security Council draft on Ukraine is anti-Russian

SANAA, Feb. 26 (YPA) – Russia’s UN Ambassador Russia Vasily Nebenzia has said that Moscow Moscow vetoed the Security Council draft resolution (anti-Russian and Ukraine) that would have demanded that it immediately stop its military operations in Ukraine and withdraw all troops.

I will not respond to those who have accused Russia of using its veto power, he added.

Nebenzia stressed that the draft resolution was unbalanced and overlooked very important issues. “Russian forces are not bombing Ukrainian cities.

“We thank all the members of the Security Council who did not support the draft resolution against Moscow,” he said.

Nebenzia stressed that Russia condemned the placement of weapons by Ukrainian nationalists in residential areas for the use of civilians as shields.

“President Putin and the Russian Defense Ministry have made it clear that there will be no strikes on civilian targets,” Nebenzia said. “But nationalists use civilians as human shields, which is a direct violation of international and humanitarian law.”

The UNITED Arab Emirates, India and China abstained on the text drafted by the United States. The other 11 members of the Security Council voted in favour of the draft resolution.

On Thursday, the Russian envoy to the United Nations said that the purpose of the Russian special operation in Donbass was to protect civilians targeted by the Kiev regime.
