LAHJ, Feb. 14 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted on Monday between UAE-backed southern transitional council (STC)’s factions in Lahj province, local sources told Yemen Press Agency.
The sources reported that the clashes broke out inside the fourth brigade in Tawr Al-Baha area, due to the deduction of sums of money from the UAE rewards by the commander of their brigade, Wafi Al-Ghabs.
The sources declared that a faction of the brigade’s elements rejected taking their salaries then the problem developed to violent confrontations.
The confrontations extended to Ayraim market on the main road that links Lahj and Taiz provinces, pointing out that the clashes caused fear and panic among the residents and travellers.
