Iran announces seizure of 2 ships in Gulf

TEHRAN, Feb. 13 (YPA) – Iranian authorities on Sunday announced that the Revolutionary Guards seized two ships smuggling fuel in the Gulf.

The semi-official Iranian “Mehr” news agency quoted the chief justice in Hormozgan province, Mojtaba Qahramani, as saying “The two detained ships tried to smuggle 15,000 liters of fuel illegally to Gulf countries, but they were monitored, followed up, and arrested by the Marines of the Revolutionary Guards.”

Qahramani stressed that combating smuggling, especially fuel smuggling, is a priority for the Hormozgan authorities, adding that efforts in this regard are still continuing for the “growth and prosperity of the country’s economy.”

The names of the two detained ships were not revealed.
