MOGADISHU, Jan. 12 (YPA) – Several people were killed on Wednesday in a suicide car bomb blast in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, AFP reported citing officials.
The attack was claimed by the Al-Shabab extremist group, which said in a brief statement that it was targeting “foreign officers.”
“The initial information we have… indicates that at least six people were killed and several others wounded in the huge car bomb blast,” local government security officer Mohamed Abdi told AFP.
The blast comes days after Somali leaders reached an agreement on holding parliamentary elections in February, which have been repeatedly postponed, sparking a major political crisis.
