LAHJ, Jan. 09 (YPA) – A military post of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Saturday kidnapped the goalkeeper of the national junior team in Lahj province in southern Yemen.
According to sources, members of the Radfan checkpoint detained Watah Alrdfani, the goalkeeper of the national junior team, as he was passing through the north-east directorate of Lahj.
The detention came following the orders of the commander of those forces, Mokhtar al-Nubi, they took him on a military pickup to an unknown destination.
According to the same sources, the individuals justified the kidnapping of Alradfani in his presence in the ceremony celebration held by the government of Sanaa for the national team, as well as a tweet in which he confirmed that the reception held in Sanaa, has not been witnessed by the team either in Riyadh, Qatar or Aden.
The kidnapping was met with widespread displeasure among activists, expressing concern that Alradfani had been harmed by pro-UAE forces.
Ahmed al-Eissa, president of the pro-Hadi General Football Federation, was outraged by the national junior team following the big celebration held in the capital Sana’a, where he quickly asked them to leave Sana’a on flimsy grounds.
