Sanaa forces besiege UAE-funded forces in Shabwa desert
SHABWA, Jan. 02 (YPA) – The Yemeni army backed by popular committees (Sanaa forces) imposed on Sunday stuffy siege on the UAE-funded “Al-Amaliqa Brigades” forces in Usailan desert of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.
The fierce battles continued over the past few hours between the two sides in the desert of Usailan, where the Sanaa forces were able to carry out an offensive operation on the sites of the Saudi-led coalition forces and Al-Amaliqa militants.
According to tribal sources, the Sanaa government forces targeted groups of recruits from the “163rd Infantry Brigade” of the coalition forces led by Brigadier General “Saleh Laqsam” and the Al-Amaliqa militia led by Brigadier General “Hamdi Shukri” loyal to the UAE, which were brought from the West Coast fronts, in “Al-Erq” area in the Usailan desert.
The sources indicated that the coalition airstrikes failed to lift the siege on the coalition recruits and the Al-Amaliqa militants.
Despite the intensity of the intense air raids of the coalition warplanes, the Sanaa forces advanced towards the positions controlled by the Al-Amaliqa militants on Saturday in Usailan.
The sources confirmed that the clashes are still raging so far, in a manner that they described as “violent” In the villages of “Shamis, “Al-Hajar”, “Balboum”, “Al-Khidher” and “Al-Hajn”.
