Bayda’s southern outskirt witnesses artillery shelling exchange

BAYDA, Nov. 17 (YPA) – The southern outskirt of Bayda province on Wednesday witnessed an exchange of artillery shelling that lasted for hours.

This comes after Sanaa issued a warning to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) about the repercussions of using its areas in the border districts of Lahj province to attack the villages of citizens in Al-Zaher district in Bayda.

Local sources said that Sanaa forces were able to deal with the sources of fire that were emanating from the outskirts of Al-Had district towards the populated villages in Al al-Hayd area of Al-Zaher district.

Sanaa’s response came hours after deputy governor, Nasser Al-Wahbi, warned of the repercussions of the Saudi-led coalition mercenaries’ targeting the homes of citizens in Bayda from the STC-controlled areas in Yafea area.

This border area witnessed relative calm and stability during the past months due to the agreement between Sanaa and the STC in Yafea to prevent the use of the latter’s areas as a base for attacks of Al-Qaeda, which were expelled by Sanaa forces from their strongholds in Bayda.
