TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (YPA) – A new earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit the outskirts of the city of Finn in the Hormozgan Province, southern Iran, on Monday evening.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency quoted the National Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institute of Tehran University as saying “The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 56.17 longitude, 61.27 latitude, and at a depth of 13 kilometers.”
The epicenter of the quake was 28 kilometers from the city of Finn, 40 kilometers from the city of Qal’at Qazi, 45 kilometers from the city of Farghan, 47 kilometers from the port of Bandar Abbas and 310 kilometers from the city of Kerman.
It is worth noting that 3 strong earthquakes struck the region, leaving a dead and dozens of wounded. The first earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 and the second with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale, moments apart, in the city of “Light” in Hormozgan Province, while the third in the city of Qal’at Qadi in Hormozgan Province, with a magnitude of 4.5.
The number of aftershocks reached 44, and 70 percent of the houses in the city of Finn Bandar Abbas were damaged as a result of the earthquakes.
