FM discusses with UN aspects of humanitarian action plan

SANAA, Nov. 14 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, discussed with the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, William David Grisley, some aspects of the humanitarian action plan for the year 2022.

In a meeting, the minster stressed the need to start taking urgent humanitarian steps to help the displaced in many areas, and alleviating their suffering.

Sharaf affirmed that his ministry would exert great efforts to overcome difficulties that would make the activities and programs of the United Nations and international organizations successful, as well as to come up with appropriate solutions.

The minister considered reopening Sanaa International Airport to civilian commercial flights, and the entry of ships loaded with oil derivatives into Hodeida port as basic and necessary steps that will facilitate the United Nations’ efforts to provide support and assistance to alleviate suffering of the people of Yemen because of the continued aggression and siege.

The officials touched upon the overall activities of the United Nations organizations, programmes, agencies operating in Yemen, in addition to the results of Grisley’s visits to Marib and Aden, during the past weeks.

For his part, Grisley stressed that the humanitarian situation in Yemen is a priority at the top of the agenda of the work of the UN organizations programs and agencies operating in Yemen for the next year 2022.
