EU calls on Zionist entity to stop building settlements

WORLD, Oct. 25 (YPA) – The European Union (EU) on Monday called on Israel to stop the settlement construction and withdraw the tenders it had put forward at the weekend to build about 1,300 new homes in a number of settlements in the West Bank.

A spokesman for the European Commission said: “The settlements are illegal under international law and constitute a major obstacle to the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of a just, lasting and comprehensive peace between the two sides.”

He pointed out that the Union has consistently made clear that it would not recognize any change to the pre-1967 borders and the status of  Al-Quds (Jerusalem).

On Sunday, the Israel Land Authority published tenders for the construction of new homes in a number of settlements in the West Bank, on which the Palestinians want their future state to be based.
