Former FM “Al-Qirbi” calls for foreign intervention to manage Central Bank of Aden
CAIRO, Oct. 18 (YPA) – Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi, the former foreign minister and member in the General People’s Congress (GPC) party, called on Monday for international intervention to manage the Central Bank of Aden.
Al-Qirbi wondered, in a tweet to his account on Twitter, saying: “Why does the United Nations ignore the politicization of the economy and its impact on Yemenis and their livelihood without setting a treatment for the Central Bank to be undertaken by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to standardize the currency rate.”
According to Al-Qirbi, these measures are to limit the failure of fiscal policy and to manage the state’s oil resources, especially since Yemen is a member of the Transparency Organization for Oil Resources.
Al-Qirbi’s proposal met with hostile reactions, considering his call to legitimize international intervention to manage the national economy, after the military and political control of the southern provinces.
This came after the continuous collapse of the local currency in the provinces under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, where the price of the US dollar exceeded 1,350 Yemeni riyals during the past hours.
The national economy has faced the biggest conspiracy by the transfer of the management of the Central Bank from Sanaa to Aden in September 2016, as a result of which employees’ salaries stopped.
The coalition used the economy as a card to achieve victories after its military failure on all fronts and imposed a blockade on ports and airports.
