Saudi Arabia announces joint naval exercise with Washington in Red Sea

SANAA, Oct. 18 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia announced, on Sunday, the start of a 10-day joint naval exercise with the United States of America in its Western Fleet, with the aim of “ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.”

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that “the naval exercise Blue Defender-21 between the Saudi Naval Forces and their American counterpart in the Western Fleet began on Sunday.”

It noted  that the maneuver will last 10 days, in order to “strengthen relations and military cooperation and raise the level of combat readiness and readiness.”

It also includes “contributing to the development of security capabilities by protecting and safety of the seas and regional and international waterways, to ensure freedom of maritime navigation in the Red Sea,” according to “SPA.”

In a related context, the same source stated, “The exercises of the Air Missile War Center 2021 were launched Sunday at Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE, with the participation of the Saudi Air Force and a number of brotherly and friendly countries.”

The agency explained that “the Saudi Air Force participates in the F-15SE aircraft system.”

SPA did not provide details about the participating countries, the type of participating aircraft, their number, or the date of the conclusion of these maneuvers.
