Ethiopia’s PM Abiy Ahmed sworn in for 2nd term

ADDIS ABABA, Oct. 04 (YPA) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was sworn in before the Ethiopian parliament on Monday for a second five-year term, after his party won the elections held last June.

The members of the Ethiopian Federal Council also approved the appointment of Agengo Chagar, the former governor of Amhara region, as president of the council in its new session, and Zahra Hamad as his deputy, after she was the official of the Social Affairs Office in the eastern Afar region.

Abiy Ahmed took office with the approval of Parliament on April 2, 2018, succeeding former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, who submitted his resignation in mid-February 2018, following protests in the country.
