3 people killed, 2 others missing in Oman due to cyclone “Shaheen”

MUSCAT, Oct. 03 (YPA) – At least three people died and several others were missing as a result of tropical cyclone “Shaheen” in the Sultanate of Oman on Sunday.

The Oman News Agency stated that among the missing persons is a child in pools of water, while the other drifted inside his vehicle in Al-Amerat area.

Meanwhile, the National Center for Emergency Management reported that there were two deaths as a result of the collapse of a mountain residence of workers in ‘Rusayl’ Industrial Area.

According to the agency, it was decided to cut off traffic in the governorates of North and South Al-Batinah, and not allow movement except for emergency and humanitarian causes, as the eye of the storm is approaching the land.

The shelters in the Liwa and Shinas areas in the North Al-Batinah governorate received 600 people, distributed among 10 centers equipped with all the necessary needs, including in-kind materials and food.
