Imam al-Nawbi’s brother murder complicates situation in Aden

ADEN, Oct. 03 (YPA) – A field commander of the 13th Brigade loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias was  killed while on his way to the southern Yemeni city of Aden, local sources said.

According to the sources, the STC militias opened fire at Awad al-Nawbi’s convoy in the al-Alam area while his was heading towards Crater district, that has been witnessing a fierce fighting between the STC militias and his brother’s forces Imam al-Nawbi .

Awad was on his way in an attempt to lead mediation between his brother and the STC, but the latter assassinated him at the entrance to Aden, the sources said.

His death would aggravate the situation as armed confrontations between the two factions continued.
