IOM: 1,500 African migrants evacuated from Yemen since the beginning of this year

ADEN, Oct. 02 (YPA) – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced the evacuation of 1,500 African migrants from Yemen this year.

“1,500 migrants from the Horn of Africa stranded in Yemen have been evacuated to return safely to their homes in 2021,” the IOM tweeted.

The organization did not give further details.

The IOM has repeatedly carried out voluntary evacuations of migrants from African countries, owing to deteriorating living conditions in Yemen.

According to earlier reports this year, more than 30,000 African migrants are stranded and living in difficult situations in Yemen.
