JAKARTA, Sept. 19 (YPA) – The Indonesian police announced on Sunday the killing of the leader of the militant group “East Indonesia Mujahideen”, Ali Kallura, which is linked to the so-called “ISIS” terrorist organization.
“Agence France Presse” stated that Kallura was killed during an exchange of fire in a village on the island of “Sulawesi” in the east of the country.
The Indonesian police pointed out that the killing of Kallura came after a joint operation carried out by members of the army and police on Saturday, adding that another militant named Jaka Ramadan, also known as “Ikrima”, was killed.
Police are still hunting four other members of the militant group, according to the French agency.
It is noteworthy that Kallura took over the leadership of the “East Indonesia Mujahideen” group, after security forces killed its former leader Santoso in 2016.
