North Korea tests long-range missiles
SANAA, Sept. 13 (YPA) – North Korea’s state media said on Monday (local time) that North Korea conducted successful long-range missile tests at the weekend amid a protracted standoff with the United States over denuclearization.
The Korean Central News Agency said that the missiles traveled a distance of 1,500 kilometers before hitting their targets and falling in the country’s territorial waters during the tests conducted on Saturday and Sunday. She added that the development of missiles provides “strategic importance to having another effective deterrent to ensure the security of our country in a more reliable way, in addition to containing the military maneuvers of hostile forces.”
North Korea has long accused the United States and South Korea of pursuing a “hostile policy” toward Pyongyang.
Talks aimed at ending North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs in exchange for relief from US sanctions have been stalled since 2019.
