Russian Defense Ministry: Russian soldier killed in roadside bomb explosion

HOMS, Sept. 10 (YPA) – A Russian soldier has died due to injuries sustained when in a roadside bomb explosion hit an armored vehicle in Syria’s Homs province as it was passing through a humanitarian aid convoy, the Russian Defense Ministry said Thursday evening.

According to the statement, while a humanitarian aid convoy carried out by the Russian military police in Homs, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off and targeted an armored vehicle on the side of the road.

The serviceman was soon placed under medical care but succumbed to the injuries, the ministry noted.

“The Russian Ministry of Defense will provide the family of the deceased soldier with all the necessary assistance and support,” the ministry said.
